KFOR: Garden on Mitrovica bridge, politically motivated (Kosovapress)

Replacement of a barricade of concrete with a garden of trees and flowers was a decision of the citizens but the desire to keep the bridge still closed for car traffic through a garden of trees and flowers is very symbolic and politically motivated, said KFOR.

According to KFOR, the garden prevents free movement of cars but nevertheless is a positive step that could facilitate reconciliation and KFOR will work in supporting dialogue and democratization for Kosovo’s stability.

Municipality of Pristina is seeking to increase its transparency and to this end began cooperation with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enable citizens’ access to municipality through different applications.

Fifteen teams made of youth had the possibility of preparing their draft plans during three days and will present them at the Municipality in front of a judging panel. The best proposal will be implemented in cooperation with the project staff and the Municipality of Pristina.

Altercation between police officers in northern Mitrovica (Kosovapress)

Citing unnamed sources, Kosovapress reports on an altercation between two members of Kosovo Police in northern Mitrovica today. According to sources, Ugljesa Jaredic, a former member of the Serbian Ministry of Interior Affairs and current commander of the Rapid Reaction Unit in the Kosovo Police station in northern Mitrovica, has attacked a member of his unit, Miodrag Janicijevic.

Jacobson: Elections, in accordance to international standards (Kosovapress)

US Embassy in Pristina is encouraged by initial reports indicating Sunday's elections were largely credible and consistent with international standards. The Embassy looks forward to working with the newly elected government on key issues that will help advance Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Jahjaga: Empowerment of women empowers families and societies (Kosovapress)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga took part in the official opening of the Global Summit of Women taking place in Paris which focuses on women’s economic empowerment and their role in the society.

President Jahjaga delivered a speech at the opening ceremony where she said that empowerment of women also empower families and society as a whole.

“Women have the strength to redesign policies, strategies and open doors that will guarantee greater development and prosperity and also ensure harmony between communities and nations”, said Jahjaga.

Albanians call to halt colonization in northern Mitrovica (Kosovapress)

Sources told Kosovapress that today at 10:00 hrs the foundations will be laid for three four-story buildings with 12 apartments each, two of them in Kroi i Vitakut and the other one in the village of Suhodoll, in northern Mitrovica.

Sources said the construction is funded by the Government of Serbia and the inauguration ceremony will not be led by northern Mitrovica mayor Goran Rakic but by Aleksandar Spiric, who was appointed by Belgrade as chairman of the provisional administration of northern Mitrovica.

President of Panama to visit Kosovo today (Kosovapress)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, will welcome today with state ceremony the President of the Republic of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli. President Jahjaga visited Panama during March and April of this year, to participate at the start of works of the “World Economic Forum for Latin America.”  The Embassy of Kosovo in Panama is represented by Zana Rudi, while the one of Panama in Kosovo, by Jose Manuel Teran. The Republic of Panama has recognized Kosovo in 2009, becoming the 54th country that has recognized Kosovo.
