Dugolli: We oppose court’s decision in favour of Orthodox Church (Koha)
Bujar Dugolli, dean of Philological Faculty of University of Pristina, said they consider the decision of the Appeals Court to uphold a previous ruling giving the Orthodox Church ownership over a plot of land within the university campus to be “shameful” and “unjust”. Dugolli said the UP’s opposition to the court ruling is not an attempt at interfering in the work of the judiciary or at undermining the right to religion to any community in Kosovo. “This opposition has to do with the fact that, after the revocation of Kosovo autonomy in 1989, the Serb violent regime of Milosevic applied discriminating laws towards Kosovo Albanians in all aspects, including property ones,” Dugolli said. “We call on the students, the professors and administrative staff not only of the Philological Faculty, but other academic units as well, and other society actors to give their contribution in not allowing the seizing of property and suffocation of university space by future actions,” Dugolli noted further.
