Jevtic met Palmer in Washington (BETA)
Deputy Assistant US Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Matthew Palmer met with outgoing Kosovo Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic in Washington, BETA news agency reported.
Palmer said Pristina’s decision on tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina must be suspended in order to open a way to the dialogue.
As the press announcement from Jevtic’s cabinet noted, Palmer said it is an official US position.
The two officials assessed that all open issues should be resolved in dialogue, and that the tariffs have bad effect on the Serbian and Albanian relations, and if they want lasting reconciliation, they must walk towards that goal together.
Jevtic noted the US support “to achieving a lasting peace and stability in Kosovo is of crucial importance.” He also expressed concerns over arrests of Serb returnees, including the latest case when Zoran Djokic was arrested.
In addition to Palmer, Jevtic also met with representatives of US Bureau for Migration and Population and discussed about returns of displaced persons.
