CEC rejected the candidacy of the Serbian List representatives (Serbian media)
Central Election Commission confirmed the candidacies of representatives of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Self-Determination Movement, but not the representatives of the Serbian List, reports Serbian media.
According to RTS, members of the Election Commission from the Self-Determination Movement abstained during the voting and thus prevented the acceptance of the Serbian List candidate in this decision-making circle.
To confirm the candidates, eight out of 11 votes of the members of the Central Election Commission are required, which, however, currently has nine appointed members.
Members of the Election Commission of Self-determination demand that Serb candidates Goran Rakic, Vucina Jankovic and Zoran Todic be replaced because they were presidents of northern municipalities in resigning and were running for the same positions and announced resignations again if elected.
Representatives of Self-determination will insist that the Constitutional Court declare on the candidates of the Serbian List.
It is now expected that the Serbian List will file an appeal to the Panel for complaints and appeals. This is a higher instance of decision-making, following a decision by the Central Election Commission.
Extraordinary elections for the presidents of the four northern municipalities were scheduled for May 19.
