Basic polluters within the borders, says head of the Human Ecology department in Mitrovica north (TV Most)
Since Tuesday, 18 June, when a landfill between Zvecan and Zitkovac began to burn, reports TV most.
Residents of Zvecan and surroundings, and Mitrovica feel the smell of smoke, lampblack and soot, which does not stop due to the huge surface burning, and after heavy rainfall, smoke spreads especially with the wind.
''The service for Human Ecology of the Public Health Institute in Kosovska Mitrovica, on the other hand, performs daily measurements of basic air pollutants: carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and soot, '' said Rada Vucetic, head of the Human Ecology department, adding that the mentioned pollutants contained in the air are within the limits allowed.
She mentioned that it does not exclude that there are other contaminants, but the service is only examining these three, taking samples from two measuring points in Zvecan in north Mitrovica.
Landfills are the biggest environmental problem in general, so they are potential polluters by themselves, but when we talk about this case there is no space for the panic, it is a conclusion of TV Most from the conversation with Rada Vucetic, high graduated ecology engineer.
