Serbian Journalists condemn attack on a colleague in Pristina (KiM radio)
Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija strongly condemn attack on a journalist of TV Klan Kosova, Milot Hasimja and call on authorities to protect the profession.
Serbian journalists, members of this society, appealed to the international community and security structures to stand for the journalistic profession in Kosovo.
Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija, which consists of more than 80 Serbian journalists, recall that media workers in Kosovo are increasingly becoming the target of bullies, criminals and all those who disagree with the editorial policy of media outlets.
"Journalists are subjected to daily physical and verbal attacks as well as the anonymous threats. We believe that inadequate punishment of such and similar attacks provide space for individuals for new showdown with reporters and in this sense, institutions need to respond urgently and prevent any form of violence," concludes the statement of the DNKiM.
DNKiM presented criticism of the European Commission, middle of this month; because the report on Kosovo progress did not mention unsolved murders of Journalist in Kosovo since 1998 nor frequent threats against journalists.
Attack on journalists of TV Klan Kosova was condemned and by the CI "Srpska".
The statement released to the media pointed out that in addition to endangering the lives of the journalists, this attack is also "the most direct attack on a word of the public, an attack on media freedom and free speech".
