Vlasi: Diplomats in Kosovo will not impose a prime minister (Danas)

Political analyst Azem Vllasi claims that international diplomatic representatives in Kosovo will not allow Kosovo to go for repeated elections, however that doesn’t mean that they will impose the solution with regards who will form the government.

“International representatives will not allow repeated elections, using their leverage within the frames allowed by Kosovo Constitution,” said Vlasi to agency telegrafi.com. He explained that if international representatives intervene at all in settling problems surrounding creation of the government, they will do so with respect of the Kosovo Constitution and laws. Vllasi further argues that there is no need for creation of the political crisis, since Kosovo Constitution is very clear with regards to that issue.

Vlassi explained that Article 95 clearly provides that majority, which is able to collect 61 MPs signatures and submit them to the Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga will receive the mandate for creation of the government. He emphasized that opposition has engaged in efforts for creation of the government, whereas Prime Minister Thaci is investing efforts in order to remain on power.

Pristina-based media reported that representatives of the international community, particularly the Quint states (US, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy), are interested for Kosovo not to go to repeated elections, but to wait the verification of election results in order to engage in settling the eventual crisis.

They are also not interested in creation of the government which would not be stable. The Quint also advocates for continued dialogue with Serbia and are against the eventual annulation of the decision on creation of the community of Serbian municipalities, what could lead to international isolation of Kosovo.
