Chairman of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija (KiM) Milovan Drecun met with the rapporteur of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Agustin Conde. They discussed the issues of human rights, establishment of democratic standards and the fight against corruption and organized crime in Kosovo.

Drecun introduced Conde with the activities of the Committee, emphasizing the active role of MPs in the policy of the Government of Serbia towards Kosovo. He reiterated that Serbia does not see any prospects in the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo, which constitutes an act of secession and precedent in international law.

He added that for Serbia, Kosovo institutions are interim local institutions, not the state, and that Resolution 1244 is still valid for our country. "Stable relations between Belgrade and Pristina are important for the quality of life of all citizens in Kosovo, are important for Serbia and its European aspirations, as well as cooperation in the region," said Drecun. He said that lack of democratic capacity in exercising human rights is visible in Kosovo. That lack reflects not only the Serbian community but also other non-Albanian communities, particularly Roma, and young Albanians who do not see their future in Kosovo.
