Negative reactions of Kosovo officials and Serbian opposition on Vucic’s visit to Kosovo (KoSSev)

Kosovo media have covered the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to Kosovo on Sunday, and mainly focused on places he paid a visit to and key messages he conveyed. However, following the visit, negative comments of Kosovo officials and politicians, as expected, have been published as well.

In those comments Kosovo officials say that issues of ‘property of the Republic of Kosovo’ can’t be negotiated, such as Trepča and Gazivode, and that Serbian Prime Minister should ‘apologize for the damage Serbian inflicted to Kosovo’, whereas ‘reparations should be paid’. They also said that Vucic’s statements, and his visit, were part of a ‘political elections campaign’.

On the Serbian side, beside the strong support of local authorities finances by both, Kosovo and Serbian budgets, heads of institutions and ministers in the Kosovo government, local parties close to the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), such as Movement of Socialists, Civic Initiative SDP Olvier Ivanovic and Active Serbia, the opposition Democratic Party of Serbia through its provincial Kosovo branch voiced its critical comments. This party reminded on the ‘act of treason, ‘shallow Serbian-hard-talk’, as well as on the ‘fake diversion’ of the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, aimed at portraying himself as a political victim, and raising of his rating with ‘his fearless bravery’.
