The leader of the Serbian List, Slavko Simić, accompanied by the chairperson of the Union of Associations of Displaced Persons, Milenko Jovanović, has visited displaced families in Sutomore and Podgorica in Montenegro and acquainted himself with living conditions of those who found shelter in Montenegro after leaving Kosovo in 1999.

“We consider that it is a high time that the UN Universal Human Rights Declaration becomes valid and for the expelled Serbs from Kosovo. Those who wish to return should finally have the right to do so. If in the existing ambient someone can’t return to Đakovica, Dečane or Peć, they can return to Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavić and Gračanica”, said Simić and added that conditions will be created for the return of displaced persons. There are around 11.000 displaced from Kosovo in Montenegro.

“The project of construction of the returnee settlement ‘Sunny Valley’ in Zvečan is one of the projects that will enable such return. I heard today in Montenegro that we have significant number of young, mainly those who have established families already, who want to continue to live in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and they have our support,” said Simić. He also said that all relevant subjects in Podgorica, Pristina and Belgrade should be involved in addressing the problems of displaced persons.
