Kosovo: key witness protection (IRS)
After the publishing of the report by the EULEX special investigative team for the crimes of KLA, the European officials are focused on the matter of witness protection, report the media in Pristina. It is pointed that the investigative task force has confirmed that activities are under way to prevent the influence over witnesses, including the operations outside Kosovo. The names of the people who will be indicted before the special court for KLA crimes are not public yet, and the “hunt for witnesses” is ongoing, the media claim. As reported, at least 100 persons will testify. In the report, head of the investigative team Clint Williamson stated that the were “aware of attempts to undermine the process through witness intimidation”, so certain steps have been taken to stop it. Earlier, the press wrote that Williamson’s indictment would include some of the high-ranking persons from the former KLA and current influential Kosovo politicians.
