Anton Berisha: The agreement on telecommunications divides Serbs and Albanians (RTK2)
Agreement on telecommunications, which was recently signed in Brussels, will contribute to the division of Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo, says the former director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency Anton Berisha.
Appearing on RTK2, Berisha says all are talking about European integration, that all advocate for Europe and then they reach agreements based on ethnic grounds.
"Practically, we'll have two separate telecommunications system in Kosovo; this does not lead to integration but to the division, said Berisha.
He adds that the authorities in Pristina receipt of the phone code +383, presented as a lifeline for the people in Kosovo, and says that the only winners of the agreement are the citizens in northern Kosovo, because there the mts signal will be full, which will not be the case of the Serbs south of the Ibar/Ibër, where the mts signal will be limited.
"Limitations of the mts signal actually restrict the movement of Serbs in Kosovo, which is not a good solution," said Anton Berisha.
It makes no sense that the operator has a limited license, there is no such a thing in law, he said, adding that with the agreement, Kosovo Serbs will need two mobile cards, the Kosovo and the Serbian.
"The solution is a company that has access throughout Kosovo, and which would be open to all and not only for the Serbs, while tariffs could be agreed upon between Belgrade and Pristina," said Berisha.
