"Serbian delegation disputed Jensen's candidacy" (RTS)
A new rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a Catalan, a member of the Spanish delegation, Jordi Roca was elected as the new rapporteur for Kosovo, after the Serbian delegation managed to challenge the candidacy of Mogens Jensen (Denmark), says the head of the Serbian delegation, Marija Obradović.
"The Serbian delegation managed to challenge the candidacy of Mr Mogens Jensen, who has repeatedly expressed his bias in the previous period, meeting the demands of the delegation of the Kosovo-Metohija Parliament, by which undoubtedly he brought himself into conflict of interest in connection to this report," Obradović says.
She states that Jensen even voted against the negotiations of two delegations on the manner of representation of the Pristina delegation in the PA of the Council of Europe, while simultaneously completely ignoring the views of the Serbian side.
The deadline for the report of the PA of the Council of Europe on the situation in Kosovo is two years.
Regarding the events in the Pyrenees Peninsula and the case of Catalonia, the newly-elected PACE Vice-President Marija Obradović transferred the position of Serbia about the issue of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain to the Political Committee PS SE.
"I want to remind you that we are in the PACE, the house of human rights, where one the main principles is the rule of law and, if we follow this principle alone, it is clear how we should stand in the case of Catalonia," Obradović began.
"Serbia's position is that we strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain. We believe that foreign interference in the internal affairs of Spain is not acceptable. Serbia knows best what kind of damage may cause making of exceptions in respect of non-respect of territorial integrity and international law, because the precedent was made precisely in the case of Kosovo and Metohija," said the head of the Serbian delegation to the PA Council of Europe.
She recalled that deviating from the respect of international law in the case of Catalonia, opens the road to similar crises in Europe and the world.
