Jevtic: Robberies and attacks against returnees must stop (Tanjug, Blic)
It is high time to stop those terrorizing returnees in the municipality of Istok since beginning of this year. I urge the Kosovo police to protect the Serbs in returns sites in Istok municipality, while robberies and attacks against returnees must stop immediately, Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtic said yesterday, Serbian media reported.
Jevtic, who is in an official visit to the USA, following the latest incidents in Osojane said it is obvious the time has come when reaction and response of institutions in Kosovo in regards to these incidents must be strong and decisive.
He added damages will be compensated from the Kosovo budget, and while material damages can be compensated, it is fear that concerns him.
“These days in Washington I speak and will speak with representatives of the State Department, Senate and Congress, (…). And I will convey to all officials in details what kind of issues we face in Kosovo today,” Jevtic said.
“In particular, I will speak about the latest incidents in returns sites and ask my interlocutors for help and support in resolving these issues. The latest UN SG report points out everything we spoke about for months. These matters must be seriously taken into consideration and reactions from the international community must be different and more serious,” Jevtic added.
The night before Jevtic’s reaction, two shops and a restaurant owned by Popovic, Repanovic and Djuric families were robbed, while a vehicle owned by Dasic family was stolen, Serbian media reported.
