Bytyqi in Belgrade: Meeting with Scott and Prosecutor (Vesti, Tanjug)
Portal Vesti reports that Ilir Bytyqi, whose three brothers, Ylli, Agron and Mehmet, were killed in 1999 in Serbia, met with the US Ambassador Kyle Scott in Belgrade.
He then spoke with war crimes prosecutor Snezana Jovanovic about the progress of the investigation into the murder of his brothers.
He will also meet Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic, confirmed Ilir Bytyqi to Tanjug.
Mehmet, Agron and Ylli Bytyqi are US citizens of Albanian origin who joined the Atlantic Brigade of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the Kosovo clashes.
It is suspected that they were killed by the Serbian police, and their remains were found in 2001 when they were exhumed from a mass grave in Petrovo Selo, not far from the training center for the anti-terrorist units of the MUP of Serbia.US
No one was indicted for their murder, and two police officers who were charged of unlawful deprivation of the freedom of the Bytyqi brothers were finally acquitted in 2013.
The US Embassy has repeatedly requested that the case be clarified, citing this as one of the highest priorities in bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States, writes the portal.
