Thaci’s “red lines” are for internal use (Danas)
Message of Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci that Kosovo “has red lines” before the concluding phase of Brussels negotiations and it is recognition of Kosovo by Serbia, serve for internal use only, analysts and diplomatic representatives told Belgrade-based daily Danas.
Thaci made these remarks after constant criticism from the Kosovo opposition over the manner in which he conducts Brussels negotiations.
Danas diplomatic sources told the daily, that negotiations continue and would certainly move toward the final agreement in the next couple of months.
Meanwhile, Serbian analysts believe Thaci’s statements “are expected.”
Political analyst Bojan Stojanovic told Danas that Pristina since beginning was saying Belgrade should recognize Kosovo and thus they can complete their statehood.
Borko Stefanovic, former Belgrade chief negotiator told Danas that a message on “red lines” is a consequence of the internal political crisis in Pristina and apparent radicalization of the opposition there.
Igor Novakovic from the Council for Inclusive Management said that Thaci lacks sufficient support in the Kosovo Parliament and must take a formal stand on the topics for which there is a consensus in the Kosovo society, Danas daily reported.
