Hoyt discusses border demarcation with Mustafa (Koha)
The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee, has a telephone conversation yesterday with Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa. According to a statement issued by Mustafa’s office, Hoyt commended the commitment of the government of Kosovo to move processes forward, including preserving partnership with the U.S. and NATO on the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force. The two officials also discussed the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro and stressed the need for its ratification as soon as possible.
Border demarcation to be put to Assembly next week (Koha)
In addition to the telephone conversation with Mustafa, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee, also spoke on the phone to Kosovo Assembly President, Kadri Veseli and the two are reported to have agreed for the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro to be voted by the Assembly next week. “In a conversation with the U.S. diplomat, President Veseli said institutions of Kosovo need to make crucial decisions or they lose their meaning. To this end, they agreed for the demarcation to be submitted by the Government to the Assembly next week,” a statement issued by the Assembly reads. It also noted that Veseli and Hoyt also discussed justice reforms.
Lekaj: Border demarcation will not pass next week (Gazeta Blic)
Head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) parliamentary group, Pal Lekaj, said that even if the border demarcation agreement is put to the Assembly next week, it will not get the necessary votes to pass. He said they believe the agreement will not be ratified because those MPs that opposed it in the past continue to do so. Furthermore, said Lekaj, five MPs will not be on a trip to Strasbourg next week which makes it even more difficult for the agreement to be ratified.
Limaj: Haradinaj, AAK and NISMA candidate for prime minister (RTK)
In an interview to RTV Dukagjini, leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Fatmir Limaj, said that the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, will be their candidate for prime minister. Limaj said they are gathering signatures for the government’s no-confidence motion and that he believed the issue of whether Kosovo will head to elections in the near future will be decided in two weeks’ time.
