Krasniqi: Conversations revealed their true nature (dailies)

Several dailies report that Kosovo Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi reacted on Saturday against insults he received from fellow party members Hashim Thaçi, Adem Grabovci, Vlora Çitaku and Sami Lushtaku. Krasniqi said he was surprised by the recordings, adding that people show their true nature and frustration in private conversations.

“If the recordings are authentic, I am not surprised, because I am aware that in private conversations, far from the camera and the public, people reveal their true nature, especially public persons who are frustrated and cannot impose their opinions on the public,” Krasniqi was quoted as saying.

Regardless of how his rivals in the PDK see him, Krasniqi pledged he will not change his approach. “Throughout my political activity, I have been transparent, determined, direct and honest. I will continue this approach in the future, regardless of the opinions of my political opponents, including those within my party, the Democratic Party of Kosovo,” Krasniqi added.

Senior Government of Serbia officials will not abandon the process of talks with Kosovo because of the acquittal of Ramush Haradinaj by the court in The Hague, reports the paper and quotes Serbian PM Ivica Dacic as saying that he will participate in the next meeting with Kosovo PM Hashim Thaçi. “Continuation of dialogue is in the interest of Serbia. We are not in a situation to choose who we will talk to,” said Dacic.

The paper reports that the Government of Kosovo is preparing an administrative instruction for the northern Mitrovica municipality where it asks UNMIK and the municipality of Mitrovica to stop interfering in the work of the Kosovo Government administrative office in the north.

At the same time, Kosovo Police has threatened with arrest the Serb staff members of UNMIK in the north who are believed to be linked to parallel structures and who are continuing to illegally collect taxes. The Kosovo Ministry for Local Government said that only in the last three months, UNMIK personnel have illegally collected around 20,000 euro in taxes from the citizens in Bosniak Mahalla and Kroi i Vitakut.
