Special Court, hostage of the institutional stalemate (kohaonline)

Due to the lack of the constitution of the Assembly and creation of the government, the process of the establishment of the Special Court which will deal with the alleged war crimes mentioned in the report of the US prosecutor, Clint Williamson, will be delayed.

According to the law makers, the issue of the court depends completely on the constitution of the Assembly and the Government. Based on the slow rhythm of political developments, they consider that this could take months. Arben Gashi, member of the leadership of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo, said that the optimal time for establishment of the Special Court could be October of this year. He explained that this issue was voted by the former legislature however it did not undergo the required procedures, therefore it will be re-submitted.
