Trajkovic: Current mayors in the north, same as parallel ones (Koha)

The decision of the Serb local leaders from northern municipalities to quietly boycott elections of 8 June, has irritated Serbs from the other parts of Kosovo. The justification of the northerners that their boycott is related to Kosovo’s state symbols in the ballots is not considered sustainable at all by the other leaders of this community.

Belgrade, and Vucic’s Government, which calls for participation in elections through a single press release, is being criticized as well.

Candidate of Serbian List, Rada Trajkovic, also reacted regarding the created situation. According to her, with the decision for a silent boycott, the new mayors in the north are acting the same as the former leaders of parallel structures, led by Marko Jaksic. “With Serbs’ nonparticipation in elections as well as with rejections to call on participation, they are in essence rehabilitating Marko Jaksic. He and his strategy of boycotting everything that is related to Pristina’s institutions, is the only winner,” said Trajkovic.

She appealed to the Prime Minister of Serbia to act in a manner that would make leaders of Serbian List in the north act in accordance to the interests of Kosovo Serbs, in all regions, without distinction.
