Acting Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Dardan Gashi, met today Mitrovica North mayor, Goran Rakic, and Mitrovica mayor, Agim Bahtiri. Gashi expressed appreciation for the south and the north parts of the city respecting the moratorium on halting constructions.

A press release from the Ministry, says the meeting took place in the presence of senior officials from the US embassy and European Commission and focused on the Memorandum of Understanding between the two municipalities in Mitrovica and the Ministry which is expected to be signed in the beginning of September.

Urban development plan and addressing illegal construction were two issues discussed in the meeting and the participants agreed to begin the legalization process first in Mitrovica and then move to other municipalities.

International officials said the process of normalizing relations on both sides of River Iber/Ibar is on the right track.
