KDI: Events following June elections have damaged Kosovo (Koha)

Representatives from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) said in a press conference that the failure to establish new institutions is unreasonable and damaging to Kosovo.

Driton Selmanaj from KDI said that six months after elections, Kosovo continues to be in an institutional crisis despite the political power-sharing agreement between the two largest parties, Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). According to Selmanaj, the crisis has affected both the political and economic development. “Assembly did not manage to review and pass the country’s most important draft law, that of budget”, he stressed.

Furthermore, the crisis has led to a decline of citizens’ trust with Kosovo institutions and this has been reflected in the increasing attempts by the youth to resort to illegal migration.
