Hyseni: Membership in international organizations, important for Kosovo (Telegrafi)
Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, on Monday met with the director of the Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI), Trpe Stojanovski. Hyseni noted that Kosovo’s membership in this initiative would contribute to further stabilization of the security situation in the region. Hyseni said that Kosovo's membership in international organizations and regional initiatives is among the top priorities of the Ministry of Interior. “The membership in MARRI will contribute to further stabilizing the security situation in the region, especially in the issues dealing with illegal border crossings, and will make our state a fair and serious partner in the region,” Hyseni said.
Stojanovski said that in the Ministerial Conference held in June 2014 in Croatia, member states unanimously approved the declaration welcoming Kosovo's participation in the activities of MARRI.
The Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI) deals with the issues of migration management in the Western Balkans, by promoting closer regional cooperation and a comprehensive approach to the issues of migration, asylum, border management, visa policies and consular cooperation, refugee return and settlement in order to meet international and European standards.
