Hyseni: No one can fight extremism alone (Koha)

Kosovo’s Internal Affairs Minister, Skender Hyseni, during the 93rd Rose Roth seminar said that only close international cooperation can be successful in the fight against extremism and radicalism. “It has been a year since we adopted a strategy to prevent radicalism and violent extremism. No one can fight extremism alone, but only through close international cooperation. Kosovo, as no one else, has demonstrated more willingness to cooperate and the results are evident. This year we have not recorded any citizen to have gone to Syria and Iraq, even though we do not exclude the possibility that someone might find third ways to do it,” Hyseni said. He added that Kosovo’s tangible results come as a result of the implementation of the national strategy for combating violent extremism. “Kosovo prosecution and judiciary have acted and now we have a large number of detainees. We at the ministry are focused more on prevention. We did a great job with the whole political spectrum, religious communities and schools. We believe that the solution is prevention rather than dealing with the consequences. The aim of our ministry is to prevent the consequences and intervene as early as possible,” Hyseni said.
