Tahiri: Wall in north of Mitrovica, contrary to Kosovo laws and Brussels agreement (Indeksonline)
Kosovo’s Minister without portfolio, Edita Tahiri, today held an urgent meeting with the government working group for Brussels agreement for the removal of the barricade of the Iber/Ibar Bridge and its revitalization. Tahiri stressed that this meeting aims to address some concerning developments in the northern part of Mitrovica related to wall that is being built in the northern side of the Iber River. According to her, "the government is undertaking legal measures to stop this illegal construction and to defeat the logic of walls and barricades that are contrary to the laws of Kosovo and EU standards on free movement." "Developments in the northern part of Mitrovica in connection with the construction of a wall are very concerning and may have consequences destabilizing the situation in that part of our country, violating all the achievements so far to establish normality, stability and order. We will not allow new walls and barricades, because they conflict with the laws of Kosovo and the Brussels agreement. Kosovo government will act with the force of law to stop work in that part of town and to bring down the wall,” Tahiri said, adding that she already informed the European Union on this issue.
