Today [5 December] is the International Volunteer Day (IVD), set by the General Assembly of the United Nations. This is seen as a unique opportunity for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts to display values, and promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations, United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector, Kosova Press writes.

“Make change happen, voluntarily!” is the theme for 2014. Even though, until last year, Kosovo and Albania marked this day with different volunteering activities, this year finds Kosovo without any special events, reports KosovaPress.

IVD 2014 is a global celebration to honor people's participation in making changes at all levels - local, national and global.
