Measles epidemic in Kosovo; new case in central Serbia (B92, Vecernje Novosti)
A patient from Kosovska Mitrovica in northern Kosovo, who was visiting Kragujevac, central Serbia, has developed the symptoms of measles, it has been confirmed.
The daily Vecernje Novosti writes that this is the second case of the spread of the disease from Kosovo and Metohija, since an epidemic of measles was reported there.
RTS recently said the contagious disease was spreading in some municipalities in Kosovo, including those with a Serb population, and that one infant had died. In Pristina alone, there have been about 100 cases reported.
For this reason, health and other competent institutions there increased "the control of citizens" but also vaccinations with MMR vaccine.
Authorities in Serbia are on alert, but also those in Montenegro, where it was announced on Monday that an epidemic of measles in that country was now quite certain, given the situation in Kosovo, but also in the surroundings.
