Europe, Kosovo people are also entitled to free movement (Koha Ditore)
The former RTK Belgrade-based correspondent, Fahri Musliu, writes in an opinion piece that the lack of visa liberalization is the main cause of the recent irregular migration of Kosovo people towards European Union (EU). Musliu writes that the EU is responsible for Kosovo people taking the “route through hell”, spending their money and putting their life in danger in order to seek a better future in the EU. The author writes that the situation is alarming and requires urgent solutions. “The EU countries are treating the people of Kosovo as second class citizens. They [the EU] are violating their [people of Kosovo] basic human right, the right to move freely.” The author writes that it is also the fault of the EU that there are created mafia gangs of smugglers and Kosovo people are paying huge amounts of money to escape from poverty and misery, because they see no other way.
Musliu argues that if the EU would have allowed visa liberalization for the people of Kosovo, just like every other country in the Balkans, Kosovars would travel legally, and the EU would have full control over the number of people that enter in their states. He calls on EU diplomats to help Kosovo people to survive from poverty. “The people of Kosovo have the right to free movement and to live a happy and dignified life, just as other citizens throughout the European continent.”
