Popovic: EU allowed us not to introduce sanctions against Russia in exchange of fulfilling all conditions with regards to Kosovo (Press)

The deputy chairperson of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Aleskandar Popovic said that there is a plenty of room for opposition in Serbia and that time has come for politically neutral and free Serbia.

At the DSS main board’s session Popovic said that the time has come for Serbia in which its Constitution will be respected, and that its sovereignty is defended politically and peacefully, but ‘unconditionally and with all resources’.

Popovic said that a week ahead of St. Vitus Day (28 June) the moment is good that we ask ourselves in what kind of state we live in and ‘what kind of Serbia we want to leave to those who will come after us’.

“That day reminds us not only on the battle which has set our history, collective memory and pledges, but the day which reminds us on what the fatherland is and how it gets defended. The day which reminds us that Kosovo and Metohija are – Kosovo and Metohija, not any sort of ‘Republic of Kosovo’, whatsoever,” said Popovic.

According to Popovic, today’s Serbia has totally succumbed to Brussels bureaucracy thanks to government’s policy as of 2008 until today.

Popovic said that he believes that EU silently allowed Serbs not to introduce sanctions against Russia, in order to ‘give arguments to the government of Aleksandar Vucic for internal use’, whereas in the same time the very same government fulfills everything that Brussels request when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija.
