The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) claims that half of the members of the extreme group Islamic state originate from foreign states, whereas Radio Free Europe (RFE) argues that a lot of them originate from B&H, Albania and Kosovo.

According to RFE data Serbia, with three Islamic extremists, is ranked amongst the states with the least members in the ranks of the Islamic state.

Around 350 fighters from Bosnia and Herzegovina have joined Islamic state, 150 from Kosovo and 140 from Albania, whereas 20 volunteers from Macedonia have joined Jihad.

In the analysis on states with the highest number of fighters in the ranks of Islamists with more than 600 volunteers are France, Great Britain and Jordan.

Amongst those with less than 100 of fighters are Austria, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kirghistan, Kuwait, UAE and Australia.

CIA assessed this month that number of militant activists of the Islamic state ranges from 20.000 to 31.500, two to three times higher than previous assessment.
