More peaceful days after Germany’s support (Vesti online)

Analyst Predrag Simic, said that during the visit of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to the Berlin and talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Government of Serbia has received significant support from Germany, which proved as a predictable partner.

"The visit has brought what was expected; the support of the Germany if Serbia abides to the Schockenhoff’s seven points and continuation of reforms. With that, the Government of Serbia has received support in one very important moment, which will certainly mean a lot. Exactly that was the main objective of Vucic’s visit to Berlin," said Simic.

When asked whether one can speak of a historic visit, Simic said that visit was certainly important, and at the right time. "The visit cut off the debate in Serbia, for example, with some foreign ambassadors. Whether it is historical or not, a visit to Serbia will bring more peaceful days and months," said Simic.

He said that once again was confirmed that Germany was predictable partner which is a good message in a situation in which Serbia is facing a variety of issues, ranging from the elimination of the consequences of flooding, the presidency over the OSCE, the Kosovo issue and many others.

The MP of the German ruling coalition Andreas Schockenhoff in 2012 presented seven points that Germany expects from Serbia on the road towards the EU. The first point is signing of legally binding statements of Belgrade and Pristina, which would be implemented by the end of accession negotiations, and as an example mentioned the treaty on good neighborly relations.
