Janjic: I expect a call to Serbs to vote (RTS)
The decision of the Serbian List to drop the campaign is actually a way to lead the campaign, says analyst Dusan Janjic. Belgrade politically can do much, but its hands are tied as the state, says Janjic to RTS.
In Kosovo began campaigning for a parliamentary election on June 8th. However, the Serbian List, which brings together a number of parties and initiatives, decided to withdraw from the campaign.
As a reason they cited the decision of the Central Election Commission to change the election committees, and the announcement that for the minority list threshold will be 70 thousand votes.
Analyst Dusan Janjic believes that it is the way in which the Serbian List, in fact, campaigns and protects the interests of the Serbs.
He indicates that these are some of the strangest elections, because among other things the campaign lasts only eight days. He also points out that the threshold has not been changed, it is five per cent.
"Too much promises should not be given with 20 seats, the Serbs could win 10 to 15 seats," Janjic said visiting the RTS Morning News.
Belgrade can do much politically, but as the state its hands are tied, Janjic said.
"This is an election under the laws of Kosovo," Janjic said and added that Belgrade can send a clear message.
He recalls that the Serbian list was made with the assistance of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. "Before the flood there were statements of politicians that they should go to the polls, but that a single list is recommended. There was no true call, and I expect it for a few days," Janjic said.
