McAlister: Serbia to harmonize foreign policy with EU (IRS)

The first draft of the resolution of Serbia, done by European Parliament rapporteur David McAlister, reads that Serbia ought to continue the reforms and harmonizing its foreign policy with the EU. The parliament greets the devotion of the Serbian Government to the reforms and European integrations, it is written in the document that will be before the members of the foreign Policy Committee of the EP on 19 January. It is pointed that the thorough implementation of the adopted reform laws is the key indication of success in then integrations, in order to open the chapters 23 and 24 as soon as possible. We call upon Serbia to harmonize its foreign and security policy with the EU, including the stance toward Russia, while we regret that Serbia did not join the restrictive measures toward Russia, the report states. It is noted that in 2014 the dialog of Belgrade and Pristina was slowed down due to the elections in Kosovo, with the invitation to resume it on the highest level as before.
