Serbian municipalities could be dissolved (Vecernje Novosti)
Serb representatives in Kosovo and Metohija warned that reduced budget for 2015 is jeopardizing the operation of the local self-governments in the north of the province and two municipalities in the south of the Ibër/Ibar River.
Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government, Aleksandar Jablanovic, said that besides municipalities in the north, and Klokot/Kllokot and Parteš/Partesh in the south, funds have been significantly reduced and to the Ministry of Communities and Return and Ministry of Local Government Administration, which are headed by Serbs.
Minister for Local Government Administration Ljubomir Maric said that he got a promise that there will be some corrections and that additional funds will be found from other sources in order to compensate the lack of funds in adopted budgets which are not sufficient for functioning of all departments and services in Serb-majority municipalities, and added that talks over the issue will take place in the course of January.
“I hope that we’ll find solution through dialogue in order to avoid measures like dissolution of local self-governments, which, I am sure, would not suit anyone, neither Pristina nor Belgrade,” said Maric and added that such development could only present a setback for the so far political process and the Brussels Agreement.
