Peaceful protests in Zvečan and Leposavić (TV Most)
Employees of the Trepča mining company in northern Kosovo have staged protests due to draft amendments of the law on public companies adopted by the Kosovo government, which would enable Trepča to become the property of Kosovo.
The protests are currently peaceful, and employees are flying Trepča and Serbian flags. TV Most reports that the people of Zvečan/Zveçan and the local self-government are also supporting the protesters. It is expected that Trepča representatives will address the protesters.
Meanwhile, employees at the Kopaonik-Leposavić mining complex have blocked the regional road in the vicinity of Leposavić/Leposaviç. 628 current employees of the mining complex are protesting, and all employees from public companies and institutions of the Leposavić/Leposaviç municipality have joined them.
They are supposed to be joined by their colleagues from Mitrovica, whose arrival is expected at any moment. Protesters announced that the roadblock would last until 11:00 a.m. today.
