Jahjaga's office violating right to official use of Serbian (Tanjug)
GRACANICA - The office of Kosovo President Atifete Jajhaga is continuing to violate the guaranteed rights of the Serb community to official use of its mother tongue, the Association of Journalists of Kosovo-Metohija (DNKiM) and the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) warned on Monday.
Despite numerous protests, the office of the Kosovo president is continuing to send Albanian-language press releases to Serb media and publish Albanised translations of information on its official website.
As a result of the impermissible practice of Kosovo's president and her office, DNKiM and UNS urged Serb representatives in Kosovo institutions and the Office of the Language Commissioner to act urgently and bring this practice to a halt.
In a DNKiM campaign last year, Jahjaga's office ranked second on a list of institutions that had been unprofessional in collaboration with the media, including by violating Kosovo's law on the use of languages, DNKiM and UNS said.
