The decision to suspend the privatization must stay in force (KIM Radio)

Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakic said that Kosovo Privatization Agency (KPA) informed him that the sale of enterprises from the so-called Series 27 and 28 in Northern Mitrovica was postponed indefinitely. However, in the meantime he received a letter from the agency that privatization is still continuing.

Rakic called KPA to leave in force the decision on postponing the publiushing of the call for sale until the formation of the board of the agency. "With this action KPA would show that it respects its own laws. Also KPA would show that it corrected the actions of violation of the coalition agreement between the ruling Kosovo parties and the Serbian List, which envisages suspension of any unilateral privatization process in Kosovo and Metohija."

Mayor of North Mitrovica emphasizes that the situation on the ground represents a long-standing practice of cowboy privatization carried out by the agency, other Kosovo institutions and individuals. He adds that the North Mitrovica, as a young local government, by democratic means will prevent illegal actions, which violate the basic principles of good governance and, above all, law and order.
