Germany requires agreement between Kosovo and Serbia in 2016 (Akter)
The coordinator of the talks between Belgrade and Pristina, Blerim Shala said today that Germany requires the signing of the agreement between Serbia and Kosovo in 2016.
"Our goal is, but also the request of Germany, to sign the peace agreement between Kosovo and Serbia in 2016. By the signing, Kosovo will seek membership in the UN and other international organizations," Shala said to the KTV, television based in Kosovo.
He said that Serbia was aware that without recognition of Kosovo there would be no EU membership, which, according to him, has confirmed the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic.
The coordinator said that the request of the Pristina side was the international area code, and the solution for the energy sector in the north.
"And the creation of the Association of Serbian Municipalities is part of the agreement and will be formed in full compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo," Shala said, referring to the municipalities that the Serbian side calls the Community, and the Kosovo side as Association.
He said also that conversation on this topic was not possible because budget for the municipalities in northern Kosovo was not adopted.
Shala said that the West would not allow creation of conditions as in Bosnia or creation of different entities within a single territory.
Association of Municipalities in no way will have executive powers, he said and pointed out that such a view of Pristina has the support of the United States and Western European countries.
Speaking about the educational and health, Shala said that Serbia can "assist" but cannot freely operate and manage the system of education and health.
