Žbogar: I think that there is no trust in Kosovo judiciary (RTK2)

The special court and investigation of crimes during and after conflict are conditions for normalization of relations in Kosovo, said Special Representative of the European Union in Kosovo Samuel Žbogar in RTK2 TV talk show "Razgovor".

He assessed that creation of the court is the most difficult thing for Kosovo. “I hope that Kosovo parliament will vote for constitutional amendments in order to clear all accusations which are hanging over Kosovo, and that instead of Kosovo, which is a hostage of those accusations, individuals take over the responsibility. From this reason I think that creation of the special court for war crimes is important step in normalization of relations,” said Žbogar.

However, this court, stressed Žbogar, must be credible and from this reason it was proposed for the seat of the court to be out of Kosovo and that all prosecutors and judges are internationals.

“I think that there is no trust in Kosovo judiciary. Taking into account that accusations are very strong, the court has to be credible not only to us and to Kosovo, but to international community as well,” said Žbogar and added that the court can only be credible if international officials work there for the sake of cooperation of witnesses with the court without fearing that something can happen to them.
