Hashim Thaci wants war (Blic)
Not only that Kosovo can’t sue Serbia for genocide, but due to such politicians’ statements it will pay a huge price – blockade of the UN membership, assessed Serbian politicians and political analysts following the statement of Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci that Kosovo will sue Serbia for genocide and request reparations. They also assessed that this, at least, presents Thaci’s demonstration of a hostile attitude toward Serbia.
The head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric said to Blic that Kosovo can’t sue Serbia because first of all it has nothing to sue it for, and because Kosovo is not a state, thus it has no formal and legal grounds for such motion.
“This is political hostility, completely inappropriate for the normalization of relations. This shows that Kosovo side is not essentially devoted to it, instead it is forced to it by the international community,” said Djuric.
The director of the Center for the Strategic Alternative Dusan Prorokovic claims that Thaci will pay a huge price in long terms due to his statement, because this blocks the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on normalization of relations, what would open a path for Kosovo toward a UN membership. He argues that Thaci’s statement is aimed to Kosovo public in light of the creation of the special court for the Kosovo Liberation Army crimes.
