Jevtić: I request protection for Serbs (RTK2)
Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtić has appealed to relevant institutions to finally start protecting Serbs in Kosovo.
Reflecting on the Sunday attack on family Dešić, which returned to village Brestovik near Peć/Peja in 2004, Jevtic condemned another attack in a row on Serbs and said that such incidents are not contributing to the stabilization of situation and that this is particularly disturbing for all returnees who live in Kosovo today in already difficult circumstances.
“We are making efforts in convincing potential returnees to return to Kosovo, and we are convincing those who already returned to Kosovo to stay in their homes. However, lately we almost have attacks on a daily basis on returnees’ property and returnees themselves, whereas not a single case was resolved or perpetrators found and brought to justice,” said Jevtić and added that this additionally encourages criminals to continue with attacks. He further said that finding perpetrators is in the interest of the entire Kosovo society. “It is pure luck that no one was killed in the attack, however the damage after all this and previous attacks is immeasurable,” said Jevtić.
Dešić and two other families from village Brestovik were having a barbeque in a nearby forest on Sunday, when they heard shots from the automatic weapon. No one was injured in the incident and the case was reported to Kosovo Police.
