Fear from attacks, police vigilance at the highest level (RTS)

Attacks on Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are continuing, that causes worries and concerns, stated Minister for Local Administration in the Kosovo government Ljubomir Maric. He stressed that police vigilance has been stepped up to the highest level, that police wares bullet proof vests and that vehicle police patrols are more frequent.

Kosovo government, at its latest session, condemned all latest attacks on Serbs in Kosovo, whereas Maric added that Serbs in the government request that things don’t remain only on condemnations and that additional measures are implemented that would provide security for Serbs in Kosovo. “We will insist on this as long as we don’t see results,” said Maric to RTS.

Maric reminded that there were between 60 and 70 attacks on Serbs in Kosovo since the beginning of the year, 20 in Istok/Istog, 25 in Klina/Kllinë and 20 in Peć/Peja municipalities.

He pointed out that despite the fact that some suspects have been apprehended attacks are ongoing. “That worries and scares,” conclude Maric.
