The International Day of Bosniaks, 28 September, which aim is to preserve the national identity, will be marked and in Kosovo. This minority community faces numerous problems.

The central celebration of the International Day of Bosniaks, traditionally marked in Prizren, will be sponsored by the Government of Kosovo. Coordinator of the celebration is Rasim Demiri, Minister without portfolio in the Government of Kosovo and the official of Vakat.

Bosniaks in Kosovo are faced with many problems, such as the formation of new municipalities with Bosniaks as the majority community, and the educational system.

Emilija Rexhepi, a member of the Kosovo Assembly states that the law on the employment of minority communities in public institutions has not been respected. She said that there are issues around the decentralization process, i.e. getting the municipality Recane, then a problem in the education system.

"We spoke with the Prime Minister on these issues. The Prime Minister gave a promise that at the government session will be discussed demands of our community, including the municipality Recane," said Rasim Demiri.

In Kosovo, according to the census, there are about 30,000 Bosniaks, and most of them live in the municipalities of Prizren, Pec/Peja, Mitrovica/Mitrovice and Leposavic/Leposaviq.
