Beqaj: Venice Commission to give its opinion on A/CSM agreement (Beta, Blic)
Political analyst from Pristina Behlul Beqaj said yesterday that the best way forward would be if the Venice Commission would give its opinion on the Agreement on creation of the association of municipalities with Serb majority.
Beqaj further said that request sent to the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of the Agreement could deepen the problem since decision could be deemed as one brought in favor of the authorities. He argues that Venice Commission’s opinion might leave space for an impression of neutrality and objectivity, and reminded that Kosovo Albanians have more trust in those who are coming out of Kosovo.
Venice Commission only provides opinions upon requests sent by governments. In situation when Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga has already requested opinion from the Constitutional Court of Kosovo about the Agreement on creation of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities, it is hard to imagine that this can take place.
Kosovo opposition requests from the Kosovo prime minister and to withdraw the signature on the Agreement on creation of the A/CSM, and also requests from the Kosovo foreign and internal affairs ministers to withdraw signatures on agreement on demarcation with Montenegro.
