Brezovica waiting snow and investments (RTS)
In Kosovo, the international investment consortium failed to timely provide the funds for the construction of a new ski resort Brezovica. Therefore, the Kosovo government has extended the deadline for six months, but he Serbian representatives disagree with it. In the "Inex" ski center in Brezovica say that they are ready for the ski season.
The French Investor MTD "Consulting" and "Andorra" managed to collect for six months, one-third of 160 million euros, as is required for the demolition of the existing and the first phase of construction of a new ski resort Brezovica.
Commission of the Kosovo government has given the international investor another deadline until May 31.
Kosovo Minister for Local Government Ljubomir Maric said that their attitude was not to support the decision.
"So, we are not against these investments, however now it is really clear that there is no or strength or the will or possibility of the consortium to fulfil this. We see no reason why the deadline was prolonged," said Maric.
Serbian representatives in the Kosovo government point out that for the development of a new ski center, first the plan must be aligned with the leadership and residents of the municipality of Strpce/Shterpce, because they are the most interested and the most affected by any change on the ground.
Director of the Ski Center Brezovica Dragan Redzic said that the decision of the Kosovo government to extend the deadline for submission of guarantees was actually illegal and illegitimate, and it was at odds with all the regulations, both Kosovo and international.
Ski Resorts of Serbia have filed a complaint with the Kosovo judicial bodies for running the expropriation of the properties, but the debate about it has not yet been launched.
