Serbian elections to take place in Kosovo as well? (RTK2)

The date has yet to be set for Serbian early parliamentary and, most likely, local elections. The media speculate that they will take place on 24 April, and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said that such claims are not unrealistic. There is a probability that the Serbian parliamentary elections will take place in Kosovo as well, however the government of Kosovo will have to give its final say about the modalities.

Previous early elections in Serbia were held on 16 March 2014, and they also took place in Kosovo, which will most probably be the case again this year. Officials in Pristina say that it is normal that citizens with dual citizenship are able to vote outside of their states, be it at a post office or at voting points.

Representatives of the Kosovo Central Election Commission made no comment about announced elections to take place in Serbia, and added that the Commission had no competencies related to the Serbian elections. On the other hand the OSCE, which facilitated Serbian elections in Kosovo in 2012 and 2014, informed that they had not received any request to assist with the Serbian parliamentary elections in 2016 in Kosovo, and added that if needed OSCE will be ready to offer its services to ensure the process is carried out in Kosovo under conditions agreed by the stakeholders.
