Closing of collective centers to start from Štrpce (KIM Radio)

Minister for Communities and Return Dalibor Jevtic, representatives of Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality, Danish Refugee Council and the EU, discussed the issue of displaced persons living in collective centers in Brezovica yesterday. Jevtic said at the meeting that this municipality is a priority when it comes to closing collective centers.

“Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality is the first one where we are going to work on settling these problems. Ministry for Communities and Return undertook several activates aimed at providing funds for the implementation of this project,” said Jevtic, and added that talks have been held and in Belgrade with the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija and all steps have been harmonized with all stakeholders who are important in settling this issue.

Implementation of the project dubbed “Support to sustainable solutions for inhabitants of collective centers in Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality,” is financed by the EU and the Ministry for Communities and Return, whereas Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality has allocated a land where a building sheltering displaced will be built. The project will be implemented by the Danish Refugee Council

Deputy Mayor of Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality Ivica Tanasijević said that this is an important project for both displaced who live in collective centers and Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality.

There are 119 displaced persons sheltered in four collective centers in Brezovica in Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality, in hotels Junior and Lahor, and two villas.
