Thaci: Special Court imposed, won’t bring justice (N1, FoNet, Danas)
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci again opposed the Special Court for War Crimes committed in Kosovo, saying that this court was established under the pressure of the international community and will not contribute to strengthening the feeling of justice to the war victims, TV N1 reported last night.
In his annual speech to the members of the Kosovo Security Forces, Thaci said that Kosovo should have a full protection capacities and a modern army that would contribute to the peace and stability in the region and the world.
Commenting on the Special Court, Thaci said that “international community imposed establishment of the Special Court. Our institutions accepted it as if contrary, we would not have the strength to prevent establishment of some other international court, under UN auspices. At that time, we voted (for it) in order to preserve partnership with USA, EU and NATO,” TV N1 further reported.
“If there would be a justice, international community is talking about, 100 such special courts should have been established only for the crimes Milosevic’s Serbia did in the Balkan countries, and in Kosovo,” Thaci also said, TV N1 reported.
