Janjic: Division of power in Kosovo instead of dialogue (Danas, FoNet)
Internal dialogue on Kosovo did not result in a sufficient number of realistic proposals, meaning there would neither be a use of it for the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic nor for the society to define the interests of Serbia and the Serb community in Kosovo in the process of normalization of relations with Pristina, Danas daily reported.
These remarks were made during the presentation of a report on monitoring internal dialogue by the Forum of Interethnic Relations.
The report covers the period from 1 November 2017 to 15 January 2018. While presenting the report, Dusan Janjic told Serbian media it is necessary to involve in a dialogue stakeholders able to formulate realistic implementable solutions.
According to him, this period is marred with a trend of reviving chauvinism, ethno-nationalism and misuse of Kosovo is a struggle to divide a power in Serbia.
He also added that disrespect, undermining and despised attitude toward those who think differently is on rise, while classifications such as “traitor” and “mercenary” are often used without reaction from the governing representatives, Danas daily reported.
Janjic also said the Serbian Orthodox Church is monitoring developments in the society, but does not have a common stance.
The prevailing themes are delineation and status quo in Kosovo, while the topics of the Brussels dialogue on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as European integration of Serbia have disappeared.
He thinks that idea on delineation represents an organized performance, in which representatives of the Serbian authorities are taking part, but also those from Kosovo and Albania, Serbian media further report.
Tatjana Vehovec from Novi Sad based Centre for New Media “Liber” said that in the period from 1 November 2017 to 15 January 2018, 56 percent of people on social networks either supported dialogue or had a neutral stance on it.
When it comes to the negative stances on the dialogue, “treason” was the most mentioned topic and according to her, those who do not support the dialogue refer to it as a “treason,” Danas daily reported.
