Vucic and Trajkovic on issues Serbs face in Kosovo (TV Most, KIM Radio)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today with the Serbian National Forum from Kosovo and Metohija delegation, led by Momcilo Trajkovic, press statement of the President’s Cabinet reads, TV Most reports.
In a comprehensive and open talks, members of the forum presented to the Serbian President Vucic numerous issues Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are facing and listed proposals on how to improve the current situation and resolve these issues.
President Vucic expressed readiness to accept part of the proposals, and to consider justification and feasibility of the rest of proposed solutions in the forthcoming period.
During the meeting it was concluded it would be of great significance if representatives of Serbs from the southern province would take part in the internal dialogue on Kosovo. In this regard, it was agreed to organize such a round-table in mid-March 2018, the press statement concluded, TV Most reported.
Meanwhile, the President of the Serbian National Forum, Momcilo Trajkovic said they presented to the Serbian President Vucic proposals that should change Serbia’s policy towards Kosovo and Metohija and received assurances these proposals would be accepted, KIM Radio reported.
He said it was agreed to continue talks with the Serbs from Kosovo, but also participation of a political and intellectual elite from Kosovo in internal dialogue on Kosovo. According to Trajkovic, President Vucic would also be present in internal dialogue session, where everyone would present stances on Kosovo issue and try to find the best solution. Trajkovic also said he thinks that policy “of the final solution of Kosovo issue is not the best solution.”
“We proposed to resolve the Kosovo issue through the process, and not to give a final solution as it is obvious that Serbia today is not ready to find a solution that would be the best (…),” Trakovic said, KIM Radio reported.
He also added, relations between Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija were the topic of the meeting as well as possibility to turn party policy in Kosovo and Metohija into a national and state policy.
Trajkovic said if a change of Serbia’s policy toward Kosovo occurs, they are ready to take part in it, but certainly not in a situation as it is today and with moves that are not productive. He also said they spoke about the murder of Oliver Ivanovic and agreed the investigation should continue and responsible bodies should provide answers, KIM Radio reported.
